SUMMARY:Introduction to Rider Biomechanics - Vashon Island\, WA
DESCRIPTION:Want to understand why Rider Biomechanics matters to you as an equestrian? This introduction explains much of why we do what we do\, and the effect it has on our horses and our performance. \nWhat can Rider Biomechanics do for you? This class will demonstrate how you affect your partnership with your horse and\, ultimately\, your performance. Whether you are competing at the highest level\, or simply enjoy riding your horses for pleasure\, the principles of Rider Biomechanics simplify the concepts and answer age-old questions. Most riders will remember being told that they should sit up straight\, with their shoulders back\, thumbs on top and their heels down – but why are these important? Rider Biomechanics both explains and demonstrates the why. Topics covered include: position\, balance and seat\, effects of natural asymmetry\, the training scale\, and how some common riding habits can have a negative impact on the horse. \nThe class consists of a PowerPoint presentation interspersed with practical exercises to raise riders’ awareness of their posture\, asymmetry\, weight distribution and balance.
